EM0006

EM0006. Digital Elevation Model, Austin, Texas, by J. C. Gibeaut, Christopher Hopkinson, Roberto Gutierrez, R. C. Smyth, J. R. Andrews, and D. M. Stephens. Poster and 1-p. text, 2002. This oversize (2.5 x 5.25 ft) color poster displays a 3-D representation of a 1-m x 1-m digital elevation model (DEM) of Austin Texas. It shows the terrain, buildings, and vegetation of central and part of south Austin, including landmarks such as the Colorado River, Lake Austin, the dams, State Capitol, UT Tower, Zilker Park, and Palmer Auditorium. The DEM was computed from more than 180 million elevation measurements collected by BEG staff using UT's Optech ALTM 1225 (Airborne Laser Terrain Mapping) lidar (Light detection and Ranging) mapping system. The poster is flat, printed on glossy cardstock, and shipped rolled in a mailing tube, accompanied by a 1-page explanatory text.
