About This Publication
The map of the Gainesville South Quadrangle is one of several 1:24,000-scale maps of the North-Central Texas transportation corridor north of Fort Worth and Dallas. Geology of this quadrangle consists of Lower Cretaceous shelf and shore-zone deposits including Duck Creek limestone; Fort Worth limestone; Denton clay and shale; and Weno marl, clay, and shale. Lower Cretaceous deposits in the subsurface of the area include Antlers sand, clay, and conglomerate; Walnut limestone and marl; Goodland limestone; and Kiamichi marl and clay. Antlers deposits in the subsurface compose the Trinity Aquifer, a major aquifer of the region.
